Many people will give up on the person you choose to become because your growth into greatness was never a part of their plan. Because they refuse to grow themselves or come up with excuses for their lack of self discipline, they will start believing that “you think you’re better” because you are serious about you. Tell them with all the love in the world, “Get serious about yours because I’m serious about mine!” Don’t let other people stop you from being the best version of yourself. Some people are so comfortable with where you are now that they’ll do whatever to distract you from getting to where you’re trying to go!
Not everyone will understand your positive changes and that’s okay! They don’t have to understand but they dang sure better respect it and if they can’t do that then you to let them go. You don’t always have to completely cut ties but sometimes distance is necessary! Don’t ever feel bad about changing for the better. It’s sad to say but sometimes old friends will not help create an environment to welcome the new you and as a result .. sometimes you just have to start over and get yourself a new set of real friends.
You need to be connected to people who are going to build you up and continuously provoke forward movement. Try to make friends with people who have dreams, desires and ambition. They’ll help you push for and realize your own before you even know it. The kind of company you keep has a bigger impact on your life than you will ever know. I’ve never been one to be really big on friends anyway. As long as I know I have a few in my corner that are genuine and true then I’m good but I will say this .. the people in your corner, those closest to you, those that are in your circle should want to see you win. Your circle should be pushing you everyday. Your circle should be encouraging your growth.
💛💛
There are some people in life that make you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger and just live a little better !!
💛💛
So , if it becomes necessary to disconnect from a few old friends that don’t support you, your positive changes or what you’re trying to do .. then heyyy.. do what you gotta do!! I just wrote a post on 5 bad habits that ruin your happiness not too long ago and sometimes not having the right people in your corner can effect your happiness too!
You deserve to be happy in every aspect of your life; not just a few. Don’t be fearful of the fact of being lonely either. Trust and believe that God will allow you to cross paths and connect with certain people that need to be in your life for that next level you’re approaching!!💙
Awesome post … well written dear 😁 loved it “You don’t always have to completely cut ties but sometimes distance is necessary!” True lines 😁

When I decided to give up alcohol, I lost most of my friends. I was crushed. I guess my decision made them uncomfortable. That’s okay because I’m a better person now.

See and that’s the most important thing! If they couldn’t respect your positive changes then they never meant to be in your life in a healthy way. Proud of you!😘

This was excellently written! And so spot on as like you said, old friends may not have room to welcome the new you. I’m at a point in my life where I have acquaintances but now I’m looking for actual friends to keep in my inner circle. People who are strong and motivated to do better! People who have stuff going on for themselves already and aren’t looking to compete or compare. We all can use a real friend ❤️

I’ve never been one to have many friends. I ‘know’ a lot of people though. Usually I’m to raw for most and we never really vibe to begin with. This is a fantastic article! I know someone who I’ll definitely be sending this too. 🙂

This was amazing! I can definitely relate, transitioning out of college makes you very aware of who your real friends are and how who actually has your back.

Good share. Often one will find how small…or big their circle is during a major life change. For me it was God, for some it can be a job change, move, quitting drinking, etc. I suddenly found myself, with well over 100 good friends to less than 10. Gone was the gambling, drinking, smoking and partying, and gone were my “friends”.
Have a good weekend!

I said this same thing to a friend about a breakup. She was devastated he moved on and found someone pretty compatible with his energy. I told her you can be everything and more in your eyes and even in the eyes of others but sometimes whats right for other people may not be what you bring to the table. It doesn’t mean anything negative about them or you, but you are just a missing piece to another puzzle. Get in where you fit in!

I love this post. I recently gave up a lot of things when I moved to New England, and I always felt a little guilty. I know it was the right choice, because they were toxic and I felt them draining me. Thank you for this post, it’s a great reminder that I made the right choice!
